Test results

The agricultural examination of e-ventus® dressing was carried out by independent companies and farmers in practice. Several hundred trials have been made nationwide in the open land as well as in some European countries. In 2002, BayWa AG started production of e-ventus® cereal seed.

Effect on pathogens

The main object of a seed treatment is the elimination of seed born pathogens, as these are difficult to treat in a later growth stage of the plant. Regarding cereal seed, these are brand disease, especially tilletia tritici (syn. T. caries), and the stripe disease of barley (drechslera graminea). Further, not only seed born pathogens, but also obsolescent diseases, can also be fought by seed treatment. These are for instance fusarium-, septoria-, alternaria- , and phoma-species as well as bacteria. In the following, an overview about the analyzed host-pathogen-combinations for corn and the achieved effect is shown:

0 = none, 1= little, 2 = middle, 3 = good, 4 = very good effects

The result of field tests made over some years shows that the influence of ground-deriving pathogens has been mostly overestimated. By the use of e-ventus® seed no cereal-relevant diseases occurred at any time, although a dress “corona” – often expected for chemical dressing agents – is not existing.

For the use of e-ventus® dressing in the agricultural practice interlaboratory test made by the plant protection agencies are especially important. The following example shows parcel tests (single parcel > 10 m²) at nine places in eight federal states. The comparison was made with one untreated control and a chemically dressing type. The e-ventus® efficiency factor was 90 to 100 % at all places. The crop determination did not show any differences regarding the chemical dressing method.

In a research project, the institution „Saechsische Landesanstalt für Landwirtschaft“ has compared the e-ventus® dressing with selective and comprehensive chemical dressing. The following figures show the results of large parcel tests with winter wheat and winter barley. (Source: Dressler et al., 2008).
